How is it possible...

That i have a job yet have less money than ever.
i swear it it wasn't for eBay no one would have any presents what so ever this Christmas.

So far i have brought two presents, two out of my 21.
Yes twenty one presents i need to buy and i know this may sound selfish but i don't want to spend my first pay packet on other people.
I'm sorry guys but i don't.
It just doesn't feel like Christmas at all to me, and everyone seems to going on about it lately.
I heard a song in the radio at the start of november.
The films started playing in october.
and shops have been desperately trying to sell Christmas sets since march.
Well almost.

I guess we will have to see if i get into the spirit, i probably will , i always seem to get excited about it.
I think it just the fact that its november and people are acting like it Christmas Eve.
Unless your a six year old child , calm down.

I feel like my heart is two sizes to small , ohhh see what i did their.

Seven ages of man...

Alright folks?

Todays lesson is about the Human body.


My art work is really coming along now, i have a good couple of pages of work in my sketchbook and a couple of artist studies.
As i said i wanted to focus on the idea of age and the different stages of it and then i had a real lightbulb above head moment.

Shakespeares Seven stages of man, how had i not thought of that?

All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages. At first the infant,
Mewling and puking in the nurse's arms.
And then the whining school-boy, with his satchel
And shining morning face, creeping like snail
Unwillingly to school. And then the lover,
Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad
Made to his mistress' eyebrow. Then a soldier,
Full of strange oaths and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honour, sudden and quick in quarrel,
Seeking the bubble reputation
Even in the cannon's mouth. And then the justice,
In fair round belly with good capon lined,
With eyes severe and beard of formal cut,
Full of wise saws and modern instances;
And so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts
Into the lean and slipper'd pantaloon,
With spectacles on nose and pouch on side,
His youthful hose, well saved, a world too wide
For his shrunk shank; and his big manly voice,
Turning again toward childish treble, pipes
And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all,
That ends this strange eventful history,
Is second childishness and mere oblivion,
Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.


That was the poem incase you hadn't already guessed.
One thing about my project was that i wanted to have a ripped up, newspaper look but i couldn't find any artists that would be able to support this. So one lesson i spoke to my art teacher about it and she suggested Francis Bacon, and i have to say his work is just what i was looking for. Its all decaying faces and mixed up pictures which is just how i wanted my work to look. I have always been a fan of mixed media works, work that have meanings and works that bits here and bits there. Who wants a painting that looks real, thats what camera's are for. I want paintings that say what the subject is about.

Long time

No speak

its been a long time since i posted a blog for you. Mainly this is due to everything that is going on at the moment.
Since starting my a levels i have been only blogging on weekends , but now i work weekends so i just blog whenever i can.
Luckily for me the only people that read this are Stephen or Hannah , so its no big loss to anyone.

Whats been happening in my life i hear you ask..... nothing. Not one thing of reverence, Don't get me wrong i do have a life , jus not one i wish to share or one that you would care about.

so thats that.

One thing i have been doing is my art project. I eventually decided to base it on age and i thought this post would simply be a couple of photo's i'd share with you :)

These are just a couple because i'm lazy and in reality how wants to see them all?

i like how i write as though i have more than two readers.

Reality Bites

Right so next week i am starting my major portfolio in art and i am completely stumped for ideas.

Well thats not technically true, i am full of ideas , i am an ideas machine but i just can't find any practical ones.

The project i have chosen is natural forms and i'd like to do something with the human form but i don't know just how to do it.

I've been playing around with the idea of the human body in all its forms , with all different body shapes and things , go gok wan on its ass but i don't know if i could practically do that. Who would i get to freely pose naked for me? Exactly.

Then i started playing with the idea of age and beauty and the idea of beauty at all ages with older people and younger people. With close ups and a bit of Hockney style photo montage. i would also then like to use the idea of hands and the age that shows on them, then with all this age thing i could have babies in it, but again with the practicalities of shooting babies.

I also like the idea of emotions and close up photos that show emotion change. I could do some prints with this idea but they would be dead simple and stuff. I'd like to combine all three ideas in a perfect world but i don't see it happening.

My favourite idea is the human body one but that also the one that would be the hardest to get first hand evidence for.

I could really do with some help on this guys, give me your opinion on these ideas and throw me some more, please, i'm desperate.
I'd like to keep it focused on the human body but the other topics are 'Architecture' and 'Litter & Debris' if you have ideas on them.

Monster mash...

that was halloween then was it? did we all enjoy it. I love halloween, second to christmas , its my favourite holiday. I love dressing up like a dead person. I love eating sweets. i love toffee apples and i adore bonfires. i realise that technically bonfires are on bonfire night but nether the less i love them. I'll tell you what i really love though.

The movies.

I would happily never watch a romantic comedy again, if i never see hugh grant fall in love again i would die happy.

So right now i am going to give you a run down of my top ten movies for the halloween/bonfire season and no , love actually wont be on it.

10) Halloween. An obvious choice i know. This is the only slasher movie that has ever scared me, it was probably because when i watched it i was around 10 and was very impressionable, but i didn't sleep for a week in fear of Michael Myers.

9)The Nightmare Before Christmas. What halloween would be complete without halloween town?. I remember when i first saw this movie. i was around 7 and they played it on itv near halloween. i wasn't scared, because i doubt a toddler would be scared, but i was more confused. Why would a skellington want to have christmas. Of course i was 7 and still picked my nose and ate it, film criticism wasn't a strong point. I have watched this movie more times than i have blinked, well almost, but as an early teen it was on constant repeat and to this day i could probably recite the songs word for word.

8) The Addams family. This is obvious again, but brilliant nether the less. A family of goths obsessed with death and darkness , yes please.

7) The Shining. This film scares me to death. I have to admit i haven't watched this one for around two years so its due for a repeat but it is brilliant. "Heres Johnny!" - Best movie line of all time without a shadow of a doubt.

6) 28 days later. As i have said zombie films are my guilty pleasure. i could happily watch the undead all day and this film is one of my favourites. The opening when he is walking around a deserted london is brilliant, how they filmed that is beyond me but is just a cinematically beautiful scene. did i just call a zombie film beautiful ?

5) Nightmare on Elm Street. If you have ever watched this movie i can guarantee you didn't sleep for at least two days. It terrifies me, as a person who adores to sleep i hated this movie but loved it all at the same time.

4) Willy Wonka, the original know what your thinking, halloween and willy wonka? but the boat scene. Why build a wonderful magical chocolate factory with singing dwarfs and then ruin it with a tunnel full of corpses and nightmares. mmmm that puts me in the mood for some chocolate. Another reason this is on the list, it is year round brilliance. i have watched this film three times this year so far and by 2010 that number with have at least gone to 5.

3) The witches. Another childhood favourite here with this Roald Dahl adaptation. what makes this movie has to be Anjelica Huston. The woman is just designed to scare children. Addams family i can deal with, in this she is just vicious. What i adore about this movie is the fact it is 100% for children but my nan loves it anyway, and who can blame her?

2) Beetlejuice. my favourite Burton film of all time, its is just pure cinematic brilliance. What i love about this film is that Burton seems to have brought a cartoon to life without damaging any of its childhood imagination. My favourite scene has to be when they throw a dinner party and end up singing the banana boat song . sheer excellence.

1) Donnie Darko. This film is one of my favourites. Troubled teens, giant rabbits and time travel what more does a film need. I won't go to into detail with the plot because thats not my style but i urge you to watch this movie, it's brilliant. what i love about it is ican watch it again and again and see something new each time and it has an amazing soundtrack from tears for fears to Duran Duran , who could ask for more ?

So that was my top ten , i hope you enjoyed them and i hope you will give them a watch
i know i will have to have a nice movie marathon in the near future
